Happy Anniversary

It's currently way too late, and we have to get up way too early to take some Americans to Shanghai... but I wanted to post these picts of the beautiful flowers Eric got me for our anniversary. Isn't he great?

Surprise Party!

On Friday night Eric and I had plans to go babysit for another couple so they could have a date night. Little did I know that this was really a cover for a one-month-early surprise birthday party. I was shocked! My birthday isn't until July, but this was the perfect way to celebrate before friends go home for the summer.

We had cake, ate snacks, and played games. I realized how delicious boxed cake with canned frosting can be after you haven't had it for a while... Eric organized everything from stealing my phone to get phone numbers to texting/inviting everyone to buying all the food and delegating cake bakers, to planning the games which included pictionary and charades. (He's really the best.) Everyone had a great time - including the family's two little kids. "Foreigner" kids are adored here, so they got plenty of attention.

One highlight... Since I was planning to babysit, I came in a t-shirt and gauchos. Not so dressed up. No hair done. No makeup. Four girls saved the day though. They had bought me a dress!

Graduation Day

Today some friends graduated from college. Not much of a ceremony, but lots of getting papers stamped off and moving out of their dorms. Outside the school gate, men and women waited to buy recyclables from the students like old books, papers, and bottles. I liked the mellow kid who just sat and waited patiently.

Diving

Eric and I recently got to see part of a professional diving competition. We watched the men's synchronized platform finals. Here are the US men. I think they were the only ones to do a dive that started with a handstand. They didn't win the event, but it was still pretty sweet to watch live.

Hair

Andrea's hair continues to get shorter while Eric's gets longer.

It's a trend that's soon to reverse but has been fun to try.
